The MSHA Executive Board, Convention Committee and I would like to welcome you to the 2008 Maryland Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s Convention. This year the Convention Committee was led by Emily Kinsler and Kelley Shaw. They, along with their dedicated and hard-working committee members, have put together what will be the most fantastic convention to date.

At the request of the membership, the structure and format of the convention has changed this year to allow for more intensive and advanced learning opportunities for the more seasoned therapists, or for those seeking training in a specific skill or method. One such featured speaker is Rebecca L. Gould, M.S.; CCC-SLP who will present an all-day seminar on Saturday on “Clinical Decision Making in Dysphagia Management.”

For the first time, we are offering a 2-day intensive training presented by Dr. Patrick Rydell, Director of the Rocky Mountain Autism Center and co-author of the SCERTS Model. Day 1 (Friday) will cover Training & Implementation of the SCERTS Assessment Process, and Day 2 (Saturday) will cover Practical Strategies for implementing the SCERTS Model Curriculum in Educational Settings. Attendees have the option of participating in one or two days of the SCERTS training. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to be trained in this world renowned assessment and treatment model.

For those who are interested in a more traditional conference model, we still have the much-loved shorter seminars in a variety of areas that encompass the assessment and treatment of clients of all ages.
