Fall Clinical Conference to Explore "Building Better Readers: Stress-Free Strategies for Meeting the Literacy Challenge" PDF Print

ashaceu_logo_shortThe topic for MSHA's 2014 Fall Clinical Connections Conference, set for October 17, 2014, is "Building Better Readers:  Stress-Free Strategies for Meeting the Literacy Challenge."

Shari Robertson, Professor of Speech-Language Pathology, Indiana University, ASHA Vice President for Academic Affairs in Speech-Language Pathology, will present this day-long workshop at The Forbush School at Glyndon, in Reisterstown, Maryland. Participants completing this course will earn 8.0 Maryland CEUs and .8 ASHA CEUs.

ASHA CEU logoMSHA is very pleased to offer another exciting CEU opportunity on April 30th and May 1st, 2015: A two-day workshop on "PODD - Pragmatic Organization Dynamic Display - Multi-Modal Communication Strategies for Children Who Have Complex Communication Needs." Speech Pathologist Mollie Riggs present this workshop on one of the latest methods of assisting children with complex communication needs. This workshop quickly sold out in June 2014 and attendees found it to be an dynamic, invaluable experience. MSHA is excited to offer another rare opportunity to learn about this innovative approach in our region. The two-day conference will be held in conjunction with the MSHA Annual Convention on April 30 and May 1, 2015 at the North Baltimore Plaza Hotel, Timonium, Maryland.

MSHA is now accepting proposals for papers for its 2015 Annual Convention, set for Friday, May 1, 2015 at the North Baltimore Plaza Hotel in Timonium, Maryland. In order to bring excellent speakers and cutting-edge topics to convention, we are posting our Call for Papers early. If you are interested in presenting, or know a speaker that might like to present, please contact us. Please note deadlines below for submitting papers.You may submit applications by mail or suggestions by email.

Report from the 2014 ASHA Advisory Council Meeting PDF Print

The 2014 ASHA Advisory Council met from March 13th to 16th this year to review the current status of ASHA Organization and efforts in public policy advocacy.   Reports were provided on all aspects of ASHA functions. Strengths and weakness were reviewed. The councilors represented all practice sites, training facilities.

We were provided with an update on advocacy efforts and received training on how to advocate for the profession. We were prepared for our visits to our legislators.
